Extended Services Agreement

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Hosting. We will arrange for hosting for your web site. If we find there are problems with the hosting company we recommend, we will transfer your site for free.

Monitoring. We will monitor the status of your web site and email service. Our monitoring is more than just a ping to see if the server exists. Just because a server responds to a ping doesn’t mean that your web site is functioning properly. We test to make sure that the whole system is running, the HTML pages, the ASP pages, your email system (both SMTP and POP3), and the SQL database system (where applicable). (1)

Web Traffic Analysis. We will automatically generate reports detailing activity on your site.

Extended Warranty. We will correct any HTML or Scripting errors or construction defects in the website for the duration of this agreement. In addition, you will receive X hours a year of minor changes and upgrades to your site at no additional cost. (2)

Security. We will help you keep your website secure from tampering by other users of the Internet. New security issues pop up on a regular basis, if your site needs modifications to deal with a new security issue, we will address these problems at no cost to you.

Domain Registration. Domain registration fees are included in the cost of this plan. (3)

Design review. Twice a year we will meet with you to discuss your plans and needs for the future.

Support.

• We don’t make up-time guarantees because we can’t control what the web hosting companies are doing. Instead, we select only the best hosting companies we can find, and then we monitor to make sure they perform. We not only monitor your site, we also keep statistics for all of the sites that we have hosted with any given hosting company. If a pattern of problems starts to appear, we are in a position to do something about it.

Don’t be fooled by those 99.9% uptime guarantees. Our experience is that few (if any) web hosting companies actually meet their guarantees. And if your site is down for an extended time, the most you get back is this months hosting cost. On top of that, we have found that some of the best hosting companies aren’t the ones making the guarantees.

• You can purchase larger blocks of time if you anticipate that you will need regular changes to your site (click here to view website maintenance packages). Any time you don’t use can be applied to your next project with us, there’s no risk to you.
• Unlike some other web design companies out there, we make sure that registration and all of the rights associated with the domain name are held in your name. Your company will be listed as the Administrative contact and Billing contact on the domain registration. We recommend that for the duration of this agreement, YCS be listed as the Technical contact on the domain registration. This makes it simpler for us to manage your site if you should ever need to move it to another host.
