Note:
We have used 'yourdomainname.com' throughout the instructions. Please substitute your actual user id and domain name (Ex: firstname.lastname@yellowcircle.com or mail.yellowcircle.com) in place of 'yourdomain.com' and 'johndoe@yourdomain.com'.





  1. Open Outlook Express.

    .

  2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.

  3. Select your email account in the Account list.

    Note: Your email account may have a different name from the example below, but the type will be "mail."

  4. Click on the Mail tab, select the email account you want to edit from the list and then click the Properties button.

  5. Click on the Servers tab.



  6. The Incoming mail server (POP3) and the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field should both be set to mail.(yourdomain).com.  Important: Be sure that in the Account Name field, you type your full email address (e.g., johndoe@yourdomainname.com).

  7. Check the box next to My server requires authentication.

    Note: Do NOT check Log on using Secure Password Authentification (SAP)

  8. Click the Settings button.



  9. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

  10. Click the OK button.

  11. Click the OK button.



  12. Click the Close button.

  13. Congratulations! You have successfully configured Outlook Express 5.0-6.0 for SMTP Authentication.
