April 28, 2004 - Upcoming change to email security settings

What is changing:

Currently, our mail server only requires a password when you retrieve your email. Starting at noon on Monday, May 3rd, the mail server will require a user name and password in order to send email as well as to receive it.

You will need to configure your email program to also use the password when it sends email. Everything else is automatic. We have provided simple instructions for you to complete this change and you don't even need to know what the password is (it's already stored in Outlook).

Why this change is necessary:

The threat from SPAM, viruses, and hacking continues to increase. This change is needed to enhance the security of our email system and assure continued reliable service.

What you need to do:

You will need to edit configuration settings in Outlook. This change should take only about 2 or 3 minutes to complete, and no email will be lost in the process.

For complete instructions, select the link for the email program you currently use:

Please note: This change is time sensitive and should be completed immediately. You must make this change by noon on Monday or you will not be able to send email using Outlook or other email client software.

Note: This change does not affect web-based email access.

We apologize for any inconvenience brought on by this request. Please contact us at 512.732.7255 if you have any questions or problems. We will be happy to help.
